A Reason For The Madness

"In his new book, The South Beach Wake-Up Call, Dr. Arthur Agatston emphasizes the importance of functional fitness — core-strengthening exercises that mimic everyday activities, such as bending and lifting — in addition to cardio conditioning." "Functional exercises... essential for preventing injury and helping you maintain a healthy weight."

There you have it! I need to remember that the exercises I do so much can actually help me with activities that epitomize common situations. I should keep these reasons in mind when I feel like I am dragging at workout class. There really is a reason for all that pain brought on from the Body Heart fitness classes

I guess those bent-over rows from Bootcamp can actually help build a multitude of muscles that could carry over to real-world tasks like lifting up the dog to place him into the tub. Or, those multidirectional lunges that would help with vacuuming the house or doing strenuous yard work. How about those squats that could be useful when needs to, say, move the couch to clean underneath it? It is nice to know that these moves can help do more to create a healthy life than I originally thought.
