Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was known as the Body Heart-Body Smart Gal. One dark, Halloween night she decided to participate in the festivities and give excited, neighborhood children treats as they paraded to her door. The Body Heart-Body Smart Gal promised that she would take great care in performing this task.
As the night began, and swarms of children passed, a huge thunder bolt screamed outside. At that moment, the lights in her house flickered and, to her surprise, the Body Heart-Body Smart Gal came across an orange being resting in the candy bowl. This Halloween visitor proudly proclaimed to be made of smooth chocolate and creamy peanut butter. This newcomer called himself Reese Cup. The Body Heart-Body Smart Gal did not know what a wicked beast this Reese Cup was, and, at first, was not at all afraid of him.
Yet, little did this girl know that as she continued the night of handing out delightful treats, the orange being was thinking to himself: "What a tender young creature! What a nice plump mouthful I could be for this vulnerable soul. I must act craftily, so as to foil her goal of healthy eating."
The Reese Cup made several attempts to be devoured by the Body Heart-Body Smart Gal. He whispered in her ears every chance he got. However, to Reese Cup's dismay, the Body Heart-Body Smart Gal began to figure out that while the outside of this treat looked pretty and, oh, so tasty, if she ate a piece of it she would surely die inside.
As the night dwindled to a close, the Body Heart-Body Smart Gal started to feel crazed by the Reese Cup's persistent words. Up until this point, The Body Heart-Body Smart Gal secretly longed for the tasty treat, however she repeatedly refused. But, at this point in the night, she was feeling frail and weak. She picked up the orange being... stared into his eyes... and put him into the basket of an eager child that had just rang the doorbell. A loud clash of thunder ripped through the sky as Reese Cup was dragged away.

Attack of the Veggies
Attempting to fit five servings of vegetables in per day has proven to be quite the ordeal. Consequently, for someone not familiar with this flood of vegetation, I have a grave announcement to make.
With each meal it seems that strange beings have invaded, an army that seems to have come from another planet. The army comprises of mostly green creatures; however, there are also a few white, orange, yellow and red individuals sprinkled throughout the group. I hardly know how to describe this strange scene created before my eyes each day.
I wish that this brigade was confined to a comparatively small area, but they seem to have taken over everything. There is not a meal I can eat without those beasts invading my plate.
I must be strong. I realize there is nothing I can do. My life is now consumed with vegetables.

The Lost Love
Dear Lemon Drop Martini,
It's Friday night. I can see that crystalized sugar glistening on your glass from across the room. Your sweet lemony scent is calling my name. I do everything I can to avoid your glance. Please don't be offended. I swear I have not forgotten about you; we just need to part for a while.
It's not you, it's me.
Sincerely,
Your Biggest Fan

I See You
Doughnut, Doughnut, you stare at me.
Doughnut, Doughnut, whom I can see.
You sit there quietly.
You sit there patiently.
Doughtnut, Doughnut, you will be the death of me.

And So It Begins
Given guidelines and recipes, I wonder if that will be enough to change my stubborn ways. Only time will tell. The guidelines seem reasonable and the recipes seem delicious. Plus, one of the rules of the program is simply to eat when you are hungry. I can't argue with that. So, I have a good feeling that this will be a successful endeavor.
All I need to do is work hard to achieve my milestone of the week (set by Joan, of course), then I know I am off to a good start. Crossing my fingers.

Start Getting Excited
Only two more weeks until Body Heart-Body Smart begins and life changes for the better. Better nutrition and a better body are on the horizon. That is something to get excited about.
